FERPA, the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended (FERPA), is a federal law.

The purpose of FERPA is to protect the privacy rights of student educational records and to ensure the accuracy of those records. FERPA applies to currently enrolled or formerly enrolled students (regardless of age or parental dependency status).

Your student information is protected by law and we are bound to protect your privacy. What this means is if a spouse, parent or anyone else attempts to obtain information about your student records, they will need written consent (permission) from you (the student). The 3rd party release form must be completed and turned into the Registrar’s office if you want anyone in our institution to be able to talk with the person(s) you have designated on that form.

If you have any questions regarding FERPA or the information on the Release of Information form, please do not hesitate to contact the Division of Student Success at (425) 223-5812 or
